I was pointed to this article in a reply to a similar, but much much cruder, analysis that I did on the same problem (https://www.ninersnation.com/2019/4/28/18521837/how-much-is-a-good-punter-worth), where I came to the conclusion that punters are quite valuable.

My analysis gives a very similar answer to yours on value per punt. The only difference is that I’m multiplying that by nearly 70 punts per season, to say that a good punter is worth about 12 points per season more than a bad punter.

So for example, the difference between Lechler and Podlech, on your table, is (0.0614 – -0.087) points per punt *70 punts per season = 10.4 points per season.

Can you explain why you are multiplying by so few punts per season? Thanks.
